Celebrate Four Years with Beehive Meals
It’s our birthday this month! Four years ago, our founder, Allyse Jackson, began making and delivering freezer meals as a side hustle to help support the family income. Now, four years later, we’re one of the fastest growing businesses in Utah, we’ve won multiple awards, and we’re delivering more meals than ever.
As with any anniversary, we’ve simultaneously felt nostalgic and eager to see what the future brings. We love looking back and celebrating our successes and laughing at the failures, as well as looking forward to where Beehive Meals will be soon.
We sat down with Allyse to get her take on the past four years of Beehive Meals to get some insight on just how far we’ve come.
We have a lot to be proud of
We have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to be proud of. What once was just Allyse packing freezer meals out of her kitchen is now a growing company of over 50 prep employees and more than 20 delivery drivers across four states (Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Nevada). “Our growth took us totally by surprise,” Allyse said, “But soon after launching, we realized that what we had was unique and a much needed service. Our mindset changed, and now we’re just looking at all we plan to accomplish in the future.” Love a good growth mindset.
Beehive Meals has also been honored with several awards the past four years, including:
- Five Best of State awards in food manufacturing and processing, and meal delivery.
- 2023, 2022, and 2021 Fast 50 (Emerging Company) awards.
- 2022 North Davis Community Favorite Business Award.
While all these accolades are wonderful, one of the things we are most proud of is the impact we’ve had on our community. We’ve partnered with Utah Foster Care, supported teachers in our area, and expanded our Season of Giving. Over the holiday season, we take nominations for families that could use a little help when it comes to meals. Throughout the month of November, dozens of families are nominated by our community members and then in December, we have the pleasure of awarding and delivering free meals to those families.
Our first year of Season of Giving, we had 70 nominations, and we were able to donate to 30. The following year, 300 families were nominated, the next year, 500. We’re humbled and pleased to say as our business has grown, so has our capacity to give: last year, every family that was nominated received freezer meals from Beehive Meals.
“It feels so good to give back,” Allyse says. “These families have gone through so much, just heartbreaking stories. And we are so grateful that, in a small way, we can help make the holidays a little easier.”
Four things in four years
We gave Allyse the tough task of choosing four things that she considers Beehive Meals’ major successes over the past four years. Here’s what she said:
One of the best parts about Beehive Meals, Allyse says, is the great impact it’s had on our family. “Adam and I can provide for our family doing something that we both love, that we built together.” And the success is evident in their home.
“Just the other night,” Allyse recalled, “our seven-year-old said: It’s really cool that you made something that wasn’t there before. Like, you created this!” The Jackson kids really are proud of their parents—as well they should be.
What’s next for Beehive Meals?
It’s always fun to look ahead on your birthday, to imagine where you’ll be next year. For us at Beehive Meals, we’re excited to see our business grow. We’ve mapped out some goals, and we’re looking forward to delivering even more meals to Utah homes. “While we like expanding,” Allyse said, “we’d really like to see more families in Utah getting Beehive Meals. Saturate the market here in our home state and then work on more out of state growth.”
This family-oriented service wants to serve more families, in other words. “I mean, I am my own target demographic,” Allyse said with a grin, “I’m a busy mom who wants to provide a homemade dinner every night and eat with my family. Beehive Meals is the only way I get a meal on the table every night. We use our product every single day.”
As Beehive Meals grows, we’re humbled and proud (all at the same time) to help busy families across four states sit down together for family dinner. With this wild and crazy world keeping us busy, we want to help support families as they take back family dinner.
Perhaps that is truly Beehive Meals’ greatest accomplishment: supporting families all over four Mountain West states in sitting down to have delicious, nutritious meals together.
Happy Birthday, Beehive Meals.
